Synthesis of fluorinated siloxane
The Rational Technologies company has carried out a pilot industrial synthesis of perfluorinated methylhydridesiloxane for the needs of various industries. Perfluorination is a chemical process of replacing the carbon R-groups of organic compounds with fluorine molecules. The resulting pilot batch becomes the first in a series of a wide range of Russian-made fluorine-modified silicones. The existing perfluorination technologies differ at different enterprises and are of a semi-industrial nature, which leads to discrepancies in practical application.
Features of the material obtained
Perfluoroorganic compounds have been known for a long time. They are used to improve the technical and technological properties of hydrocarbon polymers or their derivatives, petrochemical products and building concretes. The modification of organosilicon compounds with fluorine opens up great prospects for the chemical production of adhesive, lubricating, plasticizing or hardening compositions.
The use of the compound as silane additives with radical R-groups containing fluorine radically changes the technological and mechanical properties of materials based on silicones. This is due to the formation of a larger number of bonds that are stable over time between polymer molecules.
The resulting compound has a unique ability to impart water-repellent properties (hydrophobic properties) to metals and non-metallic products. The protection also applies to chemically active aqueous solutions of salts. The additives do not react with an alkaline environment. They improve the mechanical properties of silicone-based polymers, adhesion, retain their properties and characteristics of the base material for a long time. The amount of additives is 0.1 … 2% by weight of the base material. The additive can withstand long-term storage without changing its properties in a heated warehouse. A slight deviation in the amount of the additive can lead to a change in the properties of the base material over a wide range.
Perspective
The developed technology for the synthesis of perfluorinated methylhydridesiloxane provides for scaling up to the level of industrial production using equipment for chemical production. It is possible to refuse from imported additives.
The properties of the new fluorinated siloxy polymer are not fully understood. This allows you to expand the scope. The company offers cooperation to manufacturers of high-molecular-weight chemical products in terms of introducing new products into industrial production and to its consumers in terms of studying operational characteristics or expanding the scope of application. The form of cooperation is established on a contractual basis and takes into account the interests of the parties.
